A Night at the Oscars.

For some reason, the last few at least, I have watched the Oscars from start to finish. Mrs March always makes fun of me but for some reason I have sat through the last few years. I think the reason is that I have actually started to see a lot more of the movies that are nominated. This year I hadn't seen as many, but per the norm they were in my netflix queue before the night even began.

Rather than post links of everything (that would take way to long for the 2-3 readers that probably saw em anyway) here were some moments that caught my eye.

I just saw "Man On Wire" the winner of the best documentary. Great stuff, I suggest this as a rental. When Philippe Petit did the magic trick w/the coin, and then balanced the Oscar on his chin..pretty clever.

The Japanese director (I think) that in all his thank yous..thanked "Mr Roboto".

I did see the "Dark Knight" and I have to say I did like it, but was anyone else going to win Best Supporting Actor? It only had happened one other time, but it seemed like it would have been worse for him to not win. His parents acceptance speech was just right too.

I need to see "Slumdog Millionare". Same holds true for "Doubt" and "The Reader". It is hard to root one way or the other when you haven't seen. That being said, the winners of ALL the Slumdog awards seemed VERY excited, which is always nice.

Peter Gabriel screwed himself for being pissy about only getting a few moments for his tune in Wall-E. Lets face it, that Oscar is just a joke. The score to me is more important than some songs you don't even remember being in a movie.

I understand the "celebration of movies" but some of the flashback to what came out last year, as well as the musical numbers...eee gads. The movie spoof was pretty great though.

Sean Penn carried himself very well. It's just so funny, I still see him and think "Having some pizza and learning about Cuba".

That is about all that comes to mind. When it comes down to it, many of the "big awards" they all seem worthy so its hard. Does Steep get it just cuz she has been nominated 15 times, or does someone that breaks the mold like Anne Hathaway take it for breaking out of a shell. Its all a crap shoot right?

nobody asked, just my opinion.

Just some stuff...

Few random things.

Trailer for the new Tarentino film (due in Aug) is here. I like the idea, we shall see how it does.

Saturday I went to a local comic shop (dork alert) but I met comic artist Craig Rousseau. He was very cool, nice, down to earth and even sketched a "bust of spiderman" for littlest march. He he drew it in about 45 seconds.

Kinda sorta excited, but not sure what to expect regarding the new ...and you will know us by the Trail of Dead cd which is due today. It is under $10 at Newbury Comics so I'll probably grab it on the way home.

I got turned down on a book proposal. Well, if you read anything I have written here you'll can probably easily say "that dude can't write for s**t anyway". Not a big deal, it would have been fun, but a lot of work so its probably just as well.

Whats the deal with the freaking Boston Bruins can we just freaking out and out win a game soon?? Sheesh. Speaking of winners, the Providence Bruins remain on top in the Atlantic Division. Keep up the strong work.

I caught part of Napoleon Dynamite on tv the other day. I own the DVD, but I stopped and watched for longer than I should have. Since we are on the subject of "films", I updated my home theater and now I am using the full brunt of my blu ray player. The Dark Knight is pretty amazing and someone suggested I check out The Incredible Hulk (sorta ehh ratings but..) in blu ray as well. So "hello netflix".

Thats about it..lunch break is over...

Just stuff

I feel like posting "something" so just random jibber jabber.

Congrats to Adele for winning best new artist last night in the Grammys. The grammys mean little these days, but it was great to hear she won.

I finally got a new home theater receiver. I got a good deal, but it was the hardest unit to set up EVER. Seriously, I had to connect the DVD player, then I had to program the receiver basically saying this slot = the DVD player, this slot = the PS3. Before I pushed it all back in to the cabinet I tested it out..and it was a pants wetting event, so worth it.

Was sick the bulk of the week last week. Monday I nose dived, out of work Tues and Wed. Went to the MD on Wed and was told "nothing is wrong", but then Friday they call me my strep test came back positive. REAL nice. Infect my family AND co-workers for 2 days before getting medication. Awesome.

Sorta still not sure what to do for Valentines day. A card has been purchased, but little else.

Later this week I am going to be the father of a 10 year old...TEN?! Sheesh.

Went to the Providence Bruins game yesterday and they won. Tomorrow I go to the Boston Bruins game..and I hope they win!

I really want to play with my new home theater stuff.

Thats it..this was a lame exercise, but I felt like writing something.
