Cool Band Alert - Freezepop and info on a Boston afternoon Show..

Special matinee show at Café 939 showcasing Boston’s own, Freezepop. (Vintage VJ/DJ delights courtesy of Videodrome Discothèque)

Freezepop will be playing a rare afternoon all-ages show on Saturday, March 27, at Cafe 939. Timed to coincide with PAX East, the humongous videogame convention that will be invading the Hynes Convention Center this weekend, Freezepop’s set will feature their videogame greatest hits” as well as a sneak preview of some of their new material. Although Freezepop have been regulars at previous installments of PAX, the convention’s rotating concert lineup meant that this installment was Freezepop’s turn to sit one out. But after hearing from fans who were sad to be in Freezepop’s hometown without a chance to actually see them play, the band decided to take the opportunity to play an intimate show nearby.

Pre- and post-Freezepop’s set, Videodrome Discothèque will be providing vintage audiovisual treats sure to get the dance party underway. Along with Liz Enthusiasm and Sean Drinkwater, filling out Freezepop’s roster are new members Robert John “Bananas” Foster and Christmas Disco-Marie Sagan. This show is a warm-up for a larger northeastern tour in April.

Freezepop are also currently recording the follow-up to their 2007 Rykodisc release and Boston Phoenix/WFNX Best Music Poll winner, Future Future Future Perfect.
